Facial expression guide
Contempt
Compare one side with the other.

What to look for
- 1One mouth corner tightens and lifts.
- 2The movement is stronger on one side.
- 3The eyes and brows may change very little.
In this training pattern, one mouth corner tightens or lifts more than the other. Compare both sides against the neutral example so that you notice a change, rather than relying on a face’s natural asymmetry.
Try this observation exercise
Look from the left mouth corner to the right. Identify which side changed more. Then compare with happiness, where the upward movement in these examples is more balanced across the mouth and cheeks.
